What type of innovation?
The Fairwork project is based at the Oxford Internet Institute (University of Oxford) and the WZB Berlin Social Science Centre. Through a global network of researchers, they evaluate the working conditions of digital platforms and rank them based on our five principles of fair work that digital platforms should comply with in order to be considered Fairwork compliant (fair pay, fair conditions, fair contracts, fair management, fair representation). The Fairwork project is currently operating in 20 countries across 5 continents.

Advantages for workers
After collaborating with Fairwork, some platforms have made changes to improve their fairness towards workers, and their Fairwork score, by adopting formal policies to pay a living wage or engaging with a collective bodt of workers.
