Landmark Fair Work Case for Uber Driver in Australia

In a landmark decision by the Fair Work Commission, an Uber driver from Adelaide, Australia, who was unfairly deactivated from the platform after being falsely accused of threatening passengers with a baseball bat, will be paid almost two months’ worth of lost wages.

This is the first time that a gig worker, such as a ride-hailing or food delivery driver, has successfully challenged unfair deactivation and received financial compensation under the national legislation passed earlier this year to improve worker protection.
