The Labour Inspectorate has opened an investigation into whether the platform Glovo may have committed an illegal transfer of workers. It may have transferred some of its independent workers to fleet companies to which it then subcontracted.
The case was opened following complaints from the CCOO in Aragon and Navarre. According to the union, Glovo would have bypassed the Workers' Statute because the subcontractors, who operate under the Glovo app, have no activity or organisation of their own and it is the platform that provides them with all the working materials for the drivers.
The complaints came after Glovo announced last December that it was launching a new model in Spain and that it would be employing its dealers, who were previously self-employed.
