UK Uber Drivers Still Face Precarity Despite Court Rulings, New Report Finds

Even though courts have said that Uber drivers in the UK have rights, they still have to deal with precarious working conditions.

A report based on data was launched by academics from the University of Oxford and Worker Info Exchange. The report says that many Uber drivers have earned "a lot less" per hour since the app introduced a "dynamic pricing" algorithm in 2023.

This system adjusts the price of a journey in real time based on a number of factors, including distance, available drivers in the area, and more. These earnings drops happened at the same time as the company taking a much higher share of fares.
