Seattle, Uber Eats to Pay $15M Settlement to 16,000 Gig Workers for Labour Violations

Following an investigation by the Seattle Office of Labour Standards (OLS), Uber Eats has agreed to pay a $15 million settlement to more than 16,000 Seattle-based workers, resolving allegations of illegal pay practices.

According to sources, the company is expected to pay around $15 million to its 16,000 Seattle gig workers in back pay, damages, and penalties for labour violations. Uber Eats will also pay the city $33,680 in fines for the violations it has been accused of.

Uber Eats was also found to be in violation of the App-Based Worker Minimum Payment Ordinance (ABWMP), which came into effect in January 2024.
