Over 12,500 Bolt drivers in the UK are seeking worker status, arguing that the company exerts significant control over their work.
Represented by Leigh Day, they claim entitlement to rights such as minimum wage and holiday pay.
The case, heard in London, follows a similar ruling in 2021 when Uber drivers were classified as workers.
Over the next three weeks, the tribunal will assess the drivers' working conditions over the next three weeks, coinciding with the Labour government’s plans to strengthen workers' rights.
