Approximately 38-40% of the time and distance spent by ride-hailing and food delivery workers is wasted waiting for work. In 2023, gig workers will lose £1.9 billion due to unpaid, unutilised time and associated costs. Due to reduced efficiency, workers are only paid for 4-6 hours out of every 10 hours worked. This inefficiency equated to 8,000 years of unpaid time last year.
