The President of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, presented the initiative to reform the Federal Labour Law - which will be sent to the Chamber of Deputies - to ensure that the 658,000 digital application workers in the country have access to all labour rights, including social security through the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS).
She reported that with this initiative, app workers, drivers and delivery people will have access to medical care provided by the IMSS, payment of profits, access to credit from the National Workers' Housing Fund Institute (Infonavit), occupational accident insurance, as well as the right to the implementation of protocols with a gender perspective for dealing with cases of harassment, stalking and the like, all of this while respecting the flexibility of working hours and recognising discontinuous subordination.
