February 2024 - EU - Germany, Greece, France, and Estonia block the revised EU platform work directive

There will be no Platform Work Directive.

On February 16, the European Union’s years-long effort to regulate workers’ rights in the gig economy failed to get enough votes by member countries.

Germany chose to abstain, Greece and Estonia also abstained, while France said it could not support the text on the table.

The Platform Work Directive did not get the support of the necessary number of member states.
