The Contentious Chamber of the National Court has partially supported an appeal by the General Treasury of Social Security, requiring Glovo to secure a guarantee of four million euros to prevent the immediate payment of a fine for unpaid fees related to its drivers' employment.
The Social Security authorities are pursuing a dual action against Glovo: the liquidation law, which calculates the unpaid fees for classifying delivery drivers, totaling 2.4 million euros, and the penalty law, which imposes a fine of 3.6 million euros for failing to pay these fees. This brings the total to 6.1 million euros.
Glovo has requested the National Court to suspend the payments, a common strategy in legal proceedings the company initiates. In this case, the Catalan startup argues that paying the amount immediately would cause a "serious loss" to its financial stability.
