The government has approved a decree law in the Council of Ministers, so that companies that automatically personalise their prices cannot raise them in emergency situations, such as the recent DANA. The measure could affect companies such as Uber, Cabify, or Airbnb.
According to the Ministry of Consumption, which proposed the measure, it will apply to cases where prices end up being personalised automatically, as is the case when renting out trips in VTC vehicles or renting out accommodation online. In addition, they tend to increase as consumption increases, as can happen in a situation where many families have lost their cars and their homes.
In these cases, the final sale price may not be increased in "contexts of urgency, risk or need of the consumer".
