Uber has been fined €10 million ($11 million) by the Dutch Data Protection Authority (DPA) for failing to adequately protect drivers' personal data. The DPA found that Uber did not clearly inform drivers about how long their data would be retained or which non-European countries it would be shared with. Additionally, the company made it unnecessarily difficult for drivers to access their own data, thereby obstructing their privacy rights. The fine was partly prompted by complaints from over 170 French drivers. Uber plans to appeal the decision.
