April 2024 - US - Minimum pay for Uber, Lyft drivers in Minneapolis pushed back to July

The minimum wage for Uber and Lyft drivers in Minneapolis has been delayed until July.

The regulation, which was due to come into force on 1 May, requires drivers to be paid at least 1,40 dollars per mile and 50 cents per minute for carrying a passenger. If the calculation is less than 5 dollars, that figure would become the minimum for the trip.

Uber and Lyft would have pulled out of the city if the minimum compensation ordinance had come into effect at the beginning of next month. There was no compromise.
