On March 16, President Gustavo Petro and the Minister of Labor, Gloria Inés Ramírez, presented the country's first draft of the labor reform.
The reform draft clarified that, if approved as presented, the applications must assume the following responsibilities with the delivery drivers and the Government:
- Offer an employment contract.
- Affiliation to social security as employees.
- Inform workers of the hours worked, including the time they stay connected to the platform.
- Inform riders about the automated systems used to monitor, supervise or evaluate the execution of the work.
- Create and maintain inclusive and non-discriminatory policies.
Matias Laks, CEO of Rappi Colombia, assured the labor reform could stop the riders’ profits. If the reform forces them to be direct employees of any platform, their income would decrease.
