Yolanda Díaz, current Spanish Minister of Labor, considers that this law does not offer sufficient protection guarantees to workers or advance labor rights.
The Spanish delegation has abstained from voting on this European rider law. Díaz considers it a measure "difficult to understand in democratic terms." And she added: "Young people on a bicycle or a driver with a mobile phone are not business people."
Several countries share Díaz's vision and think it is an incomplete measure: among these, there are Belgium, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Portugal, Romania, and Slovenia.
