February 2023 - Mexico - Poor working conditions for 350,000 riders and drivers, report says

According to the report 'Este futuro no applica' by Oxfam Mexico, here are 350,000 delivery workers in the country, earning an average of 2,085 pesos (112 dollars) per week.

If the only source of income for these workers came from this job, 55 percent of the people surveyed would not have the sufficient income to meet the basic needs of themselves and their families.

Oxfam explains that riders and drivers work an average of 6 days and 40 hours a week. If they don't stay online between 6 and 8 hours a day, they don't get orders.

They must pay their own health insurance, car or motorcycle insurance (if applicable) and their taxes (which often requires the payment of accounting fees).
