A Uber competitor, the German transport-booking app Free Now, has just received a new three-year private hire vehicle operator license by Transport for London.
The license has been issued by TfL, following struggles by firms including Uber to secure licenses with the transport body in the capital.
The App Drivers and Couriers Union has given rise to concern about this operation. "We are distressed to learn that TfL has yet again granted a license renewal to an international gig economy minicab operator, without demanding adherence to minimum labour standards as a condition," the General Secretary James Farrar states.
