Vehicles with driver (VTC) from companies such as Uber and Cabify will continue to operate in Andalusian cities with certain restrictions. This is what emerges from the new decree law approved by the Governing Council of the Junta de Andalucía.
The Unión Sevillana del Taxi and consumers' associations has questioned the effectiveness of the new decree to guarantee the "balance" between platforms and smaller taxi companies.
According to the Andalusian head of Public Works, Marifrán Carazo, with the approval of the norm there are no "winners or losers", but rather it is the result of "more than one hundred hours of negotiation", and of "putting the interests of the users”, as well as legal certainty and the coexistence of taxis and VTC vehicles.
The president of the Unión Sevillana del Taxi, David Capelo, replied that the decree does not contemplate any of the contributions and suggestions that taxi drivers sent shared with him.
