The proposed European Union Platform Labor Directive is facing its first vote this afternoon, December 12.
if it is finally approved, it will provide a regulatory reference that is likely to be replicated by legislators around the world.
The proposed directive aims to:
- end the problem of misclassification of platform workers;
- protect the workers against algorithmic management.
Yet, according to some, the text still has some gaps.
The TAS Observatory and the Worker Info Exchange (WIE) have produced a report to encourage MEPs to vote in favor. However, they identify several of those key gaps in the proposed directive that these organizations believe should be addressed.
